Graffiti and Street Art Brooklyn New York

in graffiti •  7 years ago

I always love to encounter graffiti and street art whenever I travel, especially when it's really humorous, stylish and thoughtful. And of course New York is still one of the best cities for it in the US, even though perhaps it's no longer the graff capital of the world...

Here's a few pieces and a wheat paste I really love.

Cost (along with partner Revs) was a true innovator in the transition from pure graffiti art towards the street art movement, using roller paints, and wheat paste signs that made bold statements like "Revs fucked Madonna". In the 90s they were all over New York. I was ready to do a back flip when I saw this Cost wheat-paste, it's so fucking great.

And of course the Notorious B-I-G head stencil is superb as well. Biggie will always be an iconic figure in the music world, especially to those from Brooklyn.

That's my latest for now, but I'll share more graff pics when I can.
Cheers and enjoy.

Crazy that I used to go to New York when I was younger, before I had a phone with a Camera!!! Missed out on some Gems 😎

Keep spreading that Graff yo 👊🏽

Yea man, Cost is def one of my favorites. NYC will always be a place rich with graffiti, but different eras offer different styles for sure.
Cheers and thanks for your support. :)

Hey Dan. How are you? Thanks for introducing me to this type of art in Brooklyn. I have never heard of wheat paste before. I like the Biggie piece and am amazed how it stood the test of time if it was created back when Biggie was still with us.

I look forward to seeing more of your graff pics. Take care.

Hey Mello, glad you like the pics and stuff. Not sure when the Biggie piece was done tbh, but my guess is it will surely endure the tests of time.
Thanks and I'll try to get more up soon.
