Amazon Merch rolled out a new policy today. We can't say we didn't see this one comming as Amazon has been telling us for years quit describing the product, just describe the design. The policy reads as follows...
4/15
In 30 days, we will launch a new policy under Section 3 - Designs & Descriptions. We will continue to add the product name to product titles, but Policy 3.7 PopSockets Brand Name Usage will restrict any other use of the PopSockets brand name or variations. After the new policy is published, we will begin rejecting submissions identified to have references to the PopSockets brand during the review process. Content Creators will then have the following 30 days to review live PopSockets products and remove any references to the PopSockets brand. Live designs that still contain references to the PopSockets brand 30 days after the new policy is published are subject to removal. Please see our PopSockets FAQ for more information on this new policy.
Why does Merch append an additional string to the end of my PopSockets grip title?
To ensure proper product name usage, Merch will append the string "- PopSockets Grip and Stand for Phones and Tablets" to the end of your product title. This additional string will not count against the 60 character limit for the title field.
Why can't I use "PopSockets" in my title, brand or description?
While PopSockets are the physical products, it is also the brand name of the product and is a registered trademark of the brand. To ensure proper name usage, the correct name for the product is automatically added to product titles. Content Creators must not add any additional identifiers for the product to their title, brand or description.
So what does this mean? Moving forward any design where you say "PockSocket" or "PopSocket Grip" or any reference to the product will be blocked during uploading. You'll then have a 30 day grace period to go and remove or edit any old listings where you made references to PopSockets. After that Amazon will remove your listings.
