I am @hudamalik20 from Pakistan. How are you all ?. I hope you all are well and doing great in your life .Today I am participating in this SLC21/WK5: Hands-On Practical organized by @lhorgic .So let's start.
• Design a promotional flyer/banner/poster for your brand using any design app/software of your choice. Kindly be sure to be very detailed, showing every relevant detail as this could be your leverage.
For this task, I used Canva to design a promotional banner for my brand. Below, I explain my creative process step by step:
Choosing Dimensions
I selected the Instagram post size of 1080 x 1080 pixels, which is ideal for social media promotions to d high quality visuals and balanced proportions for various platforms.
Setting the Background
I changed the background color from white to black. A black background provides a bold and professional look, makie our elements and text stand out effectively.
Adding Elements for Design
I wanted to create an eye catching design, so I used the Elements tab:
I added two square shapes.
Then I canged their color to orange for a vibrant and energetic feel but after placing image it's didn't look good so I changed it into image background color.
Then I otated the squares and placed one on the top left corner and the other on the top right corner, giving the banner a modern, dynamic look.
Incorporating an Image
I downloaded a beautiful picture of a girl in a stunning dress from Pexels and placed it in the center of the banner.to get elegance of my brand.
Enhancing the Visual Appeal
I used additional design elements, such as shadow effects and decorative lines, from the Elements section. These subtle enhancements added depth and dimension to the banner.
Adding Text
To convey the purpose of the banner, I incorporated various texts:A bold, attention grabbing headline: "Super Sale!"
Supporting details about the sale: I used text colors and fonts that matched the color palette of the banner to ensure a cohesive look.
Included a call to action with the website link: "Visit www.srs.com", placed within a rectangle for emphasis.
I tried to experiment with different fonts to add variety and ensure readability while maintaining a professional tone.
Adding the Logo
I placed my brand logo on the top left corner of the banner to establish brand identity and recognition.
Final Adjustments and Download
Before finalizing the banner, I reviewed the overall design and ensured all elements complemented one another. I downloaded the banner in high quality, making it ready for promotion.
• Dedicate a section to talk about the graphics design principles engaged in making your design. You might want to revisit the lecture on graphic design principles to refresh your memory.
In creating my promotional banner, I employed several graphic design principles to ensure it was visually appealing, cohesive, and effective in delivering the intended message. Below, I detail how these principles guided my design process:
1. Balance
To achieve a visually harmonious design ,I used two rotated squares placed symmetrically in the top-left and top-right corners.
These squares were initially orange but were later updated to match the light green background color extracted from the image to blend seamlessly with the overall design.
For the central placement of the model’s image I ensured a focal point, maintaining balance across the banner.
2. Contrast
The black background uyused provided a strong foundation that made the lighter green elements and text stand out.
The light green squares (which was previously orange) also this one complemented the black background while maintaining visibility and cohesiveness.
I carefully chosen tesxt styles to match the image, to ensurre readability and alignment with the design's theme.
3. Alignment
I tried to aligned the call to action text ("Visit www.srs.com") neatly within a rectangle, to create a structured layout.
I placed the top-left corner, ensuring it was visible but not distracting from the main message.
4. Hierarchy
I designed the headline, "Super Sale!", with a larger font and bold styling, making it the most noticeable element.
And the upporting details like the website link I placed smaller and below the headline, to maintaine the flow of information.
5. Repetition
The light green color was consistently used in multiple elements, including the updated background squares, to tie the design together.
I used the fonts that were varied but cohesive, to maintaine a consistent style across the banner.
Color Theory
I used black, light green, and white to follow a harmonious color schemeBecause Black provided a sleek, professional backdrop.
Light green (updated from orange) brought a fresh and lively feel, it's complementing the model’s image.
White the text I added ensure readability and added contrast against the dark background.
Emphasis
The model’s image I added was the centerpiece of the design, to emphasize elegance and fashion.
I added decorative shadow elements and lines to highlight the image further, adding depth and focus.
• Once again use a suitable mockup to promote your design.
To effectively promote my banner and visually showcase its impact, I utilized a mockup tool on Canva. Here's a detailed explanation of the process I followed...
I started by opening Canva and selecting the "Instagram Post" format (1080x1080 pixels) to ensure the design is compatible with social media promotion.
Then I searched through Canva's mockup options to find one that would best present my brand flyer in a realistic and appealing way.
Among the available mockups, I found one where a girl was holding a tablet. This mockup stood out because it gave the impression of someone interacting with the br and it also gave a good visual appearnce as someone is interacting with my banner..
I then clicked on the selected mockup to open it.Next, I uploaded my brand flyer from the gallery and placed it on the screen of the tablet in the mockup. The flyer adjusted perfectly, and its aligning seamlessly with the tablet's screen.
I am happy that this mockup's looking realistic combined with the sleek design of the flyer, which made it visually appealing and professional.
That's it from today's blog I hope you will like it. With best wishes ❤️. Now I like to invite @rumanqafroz, @josepha and @norat to participate in this amazing contest.
Inspired by such a beautiful poster and logo design. Wishing you success in the competition. Best of luck for the contest my friend.

Hello @hudamalik20 thank you for participating in this week's lesson. We have assessed your entry and we present the result of our assessment below.
Feedback:
Welcome back to class dear student.
Let me start by commending you for a job weldone, the effort put in this work is quite commendable.
Your flier design is nice and simple, however it still need a lot to make it look very professional, continuous exposure to the lessons you've learnt so far would help you further in your quest to get it
I personally think the design has too many Whitespace/blank and you didn't maximize the use of the principle of emphasis, it would have enhanced the look of the design, I mean a mixture of bold and light font would be very complementary. I wish you all the very best, Weldone!
Regards
@lhorgic❤️

Thank you for your feedback and kind words about my work. I really appreciate the time you took to review my design and provide guidance.
I understand your point about the whitespace in my design and the need to use the principle of emphasis better. I’ll work on incorporating bold and light fonts more effectively to enhance the overall look and make the design more professional.
Now that my exams are over, I’ll focus on learning and practicing more to improve my skills. Thank you once again for your support and helpful advice. I’ll do my best to apply these suggestions in future designs.🌸🌼💞🤗
