My Daddy and I weren't close, we were at odds much of my teenage years in fact.
When at age 18, we had a serious car wreck, with me driving, Daddy was mortally injured.
He lived for 3 wks and several days in ICU, connected to a ventilator,
therefore unable speak, even tho he was conscious.
He was trying to say something to everyone, me in particular that whole time.

For many, many years, I blamed myself for his death, because after all, I was driving.
This was one reason I had so many problems with alcohol.
I was trying to drown my self imposed guilt.
Thank God that part is(Mostly) over.

(I don't know if I recorded this video specifically for this post, or just because I love the song)

So, when this song came out, about praising your Father, it struck straight to my heart. I was obsessed with learning it. I did nothing else for several days, but listen to the record over and over with my guitar (I was in the process of leaving Arizona). Once I could play it on the guitar, it was still about 4 months before I could sing the song, without choking up, especially on that last verse, that last line:
"and Papa, I don't think I said, I LOVE YOU near enough" (I'm sitting here with a tear running down my cheek now).

PLEASE everyone; TELL the people in your life that you love them! SHOW THEM every day; you never know when you may turn around and they are not there, never to return.

Beautiful song, and you did well with it!
Is that photo of your dad? I think you look like him in this photo and the video's still... Seems like he's listening to you too! Am sure he is... :)

Yes, that's my daddy.
Here he is holding baby me and slightly younger nephew Gene

I'm on the right.

It's great you have these old photographs... I don't have candid ones like this, our family used to go to the photo studio to take formal photos at birthdays - so I would have one every birthday! :)

That is sad. My sister's husband (From Ohio) worked as a reporter
For several newspapers up there, and was an accomplished
photographer, taking many of the photos we have when they
Came down for a visit. Such as this one>

I added all the names and lines.
Linda, Sylvia, Bobbie, Claudelle are my sisters, Jim, John
And Robbie are my brothers, the rest are inlaws and
Their offspring, this would have been about 1969 I think
