Instant Gratification and the Entitled

in gratification •  7 years ago

Today, we live in a world of instant gratification. We feel a need to be connected 24/7 and we have a limited will to postpone gratification. Gone are the years when we saved to buy a starter home or an old beater for our first car. I can remember a neighbor moving to a larger home because his family of 4 was now 5.

Now, the family that lived in that home for 30 years was a family of 7. The average family home today is over 2,600 square feet. The average family home in the 50s was under 1,000 square feet. Not only were the homes smaller, the family members were larger. It seems all generations have a large percentage of people who feel entitled. This phenomenon of entitlement is not about 1 or 2 generations.
