I am grateful for my mother's safety.
I saw @tojukaka's post about posting what we are all grateful for, I had wanted to write a post on it but I have not been able to. After the event that happened today, I had to write this.
Today is the first day of June, and even a Friday. I happened to be back home, slept over in my old room. We woke up in the early hours of today to say the morning prayers and also to offer thanksgiving to God for making the whole family to witness the new month, those far and near.
My mum is a trader, she owns a stall in the most popular market here in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Since I was around, I had to go over to do some heavy lifting and also to arrange the goods before she comes over.
I got there early this morning doing my job, had swept and started arranging the goods. Then I saw a lady bringing my mum's bag, at first I was not perturbed seeing her with the handbag because it is a normal thing for you to help the elderly one with their bags to their shops when you see them.
I then noticed dirt on the bag, I was about to ask if it fell at her hand when she said "your mum is at onírèké juction, go and check on her" ( anyone conversant with 'òjá tuntun' here in Ife would know the junction). I walked as fast as I could then I saw her thanking God albeit in pains, there were people praising God too.
The junction was a slope, it happened that as the bike my mum was on is trying to climb the hill a mini-van with a failed brake was coming down the hill. The car had no choice but to hit the bike with speed, but somehow due to God's mercy the bikeman and my mum survived the collision.
Although my mum did have a slight sprain on her ankle, nothing serious. My mum is alive and fine, she just took dinner and her medications. I am here to say I am grateful.
Anything could have happened but here I am writing this gratitude post.
This is @heeyahnuh and I just wrote my first entry on the 24th day.
Thanks to @tojukaka for this platform, God bless you.
