I love the intense epitaph on this gravestone. This was taken in Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

This is really eloquent, and rather spiritually aware compared to what I would mostly expect of the 1800s.

Yeah, that really surprised me as well. I am going to go visit that grave again and get some more pictures of it. It's got a great sculpture on the obverse and James Stephens had an interesting part to play in Portland's history.

I lost two best friends of mine, a couple, equally enlightened than the couple honored in your post, also together for in the order of half a century, passing away only five months apart. He followed her only four days ago.

Blessed are they to eternity, for the chain of honest goodwill they left as their heritage...
