1824: The Ottoman navy invades the island of Psara and destroys it for its participation in the Greek Revolution of 1821.

1929: Greek merchant and politician, Emmanouil Benakis dies. He is the father of Greek writer Penelope Delta and the art collector Antonis Benakis.

1975: Konstantinos Tsatsos is elected the 2nd President of the Third Hellenic Republic by the Parliament.
