水田在插秧後，放養某些品種的鴨子，鴨子會去食用野草、昆蟲、青蛙或螺貝，除了出穗期以外，鴨子在種植期間並不會去啄食稻葉，是一種很好的自然界組合，讓雜草和害蟲成為鴨飼料，而鴨的排泄物又成為肥料，就是一種很好的綠色農業。
