Gridcoin, SPARC, what is the difference, what do you think its the future?steemCreated with Sketch.

So i got to know the existence of SPARC when it got added to grcpool.com. Reading about it, it seems a lot like gridcoin, but based on eth tokens. It also features a future project based on asm.js work units, which is quite interesting to be honest, asm.js has near native run speeds and in certain situations even faster than native.

But at this moment you can get SPARC only via boinc, which makes it seem like a duplicate. It also doesnt have whitelisted un-sciency math projects like Amicable, so thats a win for me.

So, whats your opinion on it?

    SPARC is using Javascript, which I do not like. It is not a real blockchain coin, as it is basically free-riding on Ethereum. The idea is not new, we had GOLEM and SONM. For these reasons reasons, I will sell my SPARC tokens sooner or later and hold Gridcoins instead.
    Others are free to have different opinions.

      I'm already collecting my SPARC's, but i guess i'll just sell them for more grc as soon as possible

          I havent contributed to BOINC specifically to make GRC or Sparc, I contributed for the sake of contributing to science. I will probably continue to contribute to boinc as my primary goal and claim the value that is generated from that. I think that that is the majority consensus to most GRC miners.

          Having said GRC has inherently more value as it is an actual block chain and Sparc is seemingly just a marketplace for compute power (or atleast it wants to be eventually). I dont really like that as it has the potential to take away compute from Boinc to those that are willing to pay for it on Sparc.

          We will have to see if Sparc takes off, at the moment though there is no disadvantage to running both and I will probably just hold onto the tokens I accumulate while contributing to Boinc
