This is actually similar to the original form the logo took! Here's an image for reference :):

We moved on to the hexagonal design due it both being a little different to what's out there and to give a little more generic scientific symbolism - the DNA concept on its own was thought to be a little too specific for a coin that supports a wide range of scientific projects.
