Well it’s cloudy and raining where I am on Saturday February 2nd. According to lore, if a groundhog cannot see his shadow on this day because of cloudiness, spring will come early. So I guess I can look forward to an early spring with warm sunshine and blooming flowers.
There is a movie titled Groundhog Day that came out in the early 90’s which was very popular. I’ve seen it about a million times. In the movie, the main character keeps experiencing the same day (Groundhog Day) over and over again. It seems like now many people associate Groundhog Day as being the same day repeating over and over or in other words trying to break out of the same habits that aren’t getting you anywhere.
But anyway, I gave you two ways to think about the holiday and here is a glimpse of my early spring.
yes I agree w/ this statement of spring coming early - as of yesterday I heard the loud squawks of the migratory green parrots that come up from Mexico and are a harbinger of early spring in S. California , as true as any groundhog, @angrytwin

Early Spring would be nice, it'll save me some money on my heating expenses :>)
Today began as a 'single' digit temperature day where I'm at, and has been that low for a few days...but, after the Punxsutwaney, Pa. Groundhog named 'Phil' popped his head out at "Gobbler's Knob"...the temperature rose to above freezing and the snow began to melt.
