Gulag fires an engineer; Jordan Peterson calls to offer consolation.

James Damore wrote a great memo, honestly asking whether Google's reverse discrimination is a good thing. Then they fired him.

Dr. Peterson didn't have anything to do yesterday afternoon, so he called Damore up and struck up an hour long conversation with him and an unidentified (still employed) Google worker. Together, they take apart the situation that Google now finds itself in, after having fired someone who dared to question an illegal corporate policy.

Enjoy this very frank, very refreshing conversation between two brilliant young men, and Dr. Peterson, who now finds himself in the position of St. George, Slayer of Dragons and Rescuer of Virgins.

I don't want to just put this up here and walk away from it. Please, PLEASE discuss this below. We here on Steemit are building a road system, for the rest of the internet world to come and use. We need to bring these, the most critical discussions, here to the blockchain, because here, we AND THE DATA are safe.

  • Do you ever feel that the expression of your views might cost you your job? (I do, sometimes)
  • Do you ever stop talking suddenly when you feel that you shouldn't say something that you are thinking? (Often)
  • Do you think that we need a 50-50% ratio in every job in order to finally say men and women are equal? (Neg.)
  • Will you commit today to stand up for voices like James Damore and Jordan Peterson? (I will.)

It would be cool if James Damore joined us on Steemit. Jordan Peterson too.

i've already e-mailed Peterson but have yet to hit his YT channel tho!! Good idea

He responds to certain, real good comments on his vids.

It's just like Peterson said too....I heard a report on the radio that D'amre was fired for his "views on women in the workplace." Its as if they don't even care what was actually in his manifesto...

That would be neat!

If you build it, they will come.

Hello friend ! I am re-post you information! Good luck !

Criticize your employer, lose your job.

Gosh, never saw that one coming.

Good employers welcome positive criticism from their employees. This memo was not rude, or mean. It was very factual.

My Employer has welcomed when I and others have brought attention to some practices that were not fair and could lead to Legal problems.

This guy did Google a HUGE favour.

In a culture that encourages honest, open discussion. Or at least they SAY they do.

That is the snow flake way...they are very tolerant as long as you stick to their ageda!

The actions of Google have made me regret that I have so much with them and that it will take a very long time to disconnect from Google and move my services else where.

As a customer I do not want to deal with a company that treats its employees like this.

This poor Centrist is being pushed right due to actions like Googles.

exactly. gotta plan that withdrawl from alphabet.corp and start pulling out. I think they know not to mess with Peterson...

How are you going to question your boss that way? Shmmm.

When it is a response - in good faith - to a an invitation from your employer for input, I'd say that James did a great job writing what he wrote. He probably had a reasonable idea that he would get fired. He's been watching too much #jordanpeterson on youtube.... thought honesty really WAS the best policy.
