Let's pretend for a moment that we all agreed with the "common sense" gun control laws for a moment - which we don't, all of those laws are asinine - but, let's pretend.
Even if we all agreed, have any of us thought that maybe, just maybe, the lack of movement toward gun control isn't Republicans and the NRA? Maybe, just maybe, the gun control side has lost all credibility through decades of lies, misinformation, and ignorance?
Have you considered that maybe, just maybe, your passionate and indignant declarations that you've made about what we do and don't need and therefore can and can't have while you couldn't tell the difference between a .223 Remington and a 30-30 Winchester to save your life has hurt your credibility? Hell, have you ever asked yourself if you could tell the difference between a rifle round and a pistol round?
Have you considered that false claims like that a 9mm bullet will rip your lung clean out of your body or that an AR-15 round will decapitate an adult human have only be useful to polarize your base; but, on net you've just given every sane and honest person on the planet a reason to laugh at you?
Have you ever looked in the damn mirror?
Have you ever thought that maybe you actually take a certain amount of pride in your ignorance about guns? Have you ever thought that there might not be many other issues in your life that you're both passionate and vindictive about while also taking pride in your own ignorance?
There are philosophical arguments for gun control out there that aren't easy to refute. Stick to those. But, if you don't know the difference between a single action and a double action revolver, maybe you should refrain from any statements about the technical details.
