Since it was a local story that only ever resulted in a misdemeanor charge, I only became aware of the Michael Bukosky case a few hours ago via Tom Grieve (Grieve is a defense attorney, and a regular contributor to USCCA content, he's worth a follow if you wanna geek out on the law of self-defense).
I decided to look up what I could find about this case in the media, and I fell upon this gem. This is how dishonest the anti-gun people are. These people really do think that they're justified in lying to get their way.
Now, in all my googling for articles like this, claiming that Mr. Bukosky was the instigator, and that he pulled his gun on an unarmed victim, I found no retractions mentioning that the charges were dropped because the other driver lied.
They just put the criminals version of events out there for the world to see because it fit their anti-conceal-carry narrative, and bury it when they find out that the guy with the conceal carry permit was really the victim, both of the other motorist, and of the state.
This article claimed that Mr. Bukosky pulled his firearm on an unarmed driver who "annoyed him." That part is blatant projection from the author. Even if it were true, which it isn't, the author couldn't know Mr. Bukosky's specific intent.
Given the content of the article, we know that he didn't talk to Mr. Bukosky.
Mr. Bukosky's story is that the other driver pulled a gun on him, and that he responded in kind before running a red light to flee the altercation.
Now, the other driver made two claims when he called the cops that resulted in the charges against Mr. Bukosky being dropped.
One claim was that the other driver specifically stated that he saw Mr. Bukosky cock the hammer. The problem is that Mr. Bukosky was carrying a Ruger LC9, which is a striker-fire pistol that doesn't even have a hammer.
The other claim made by the other driver was that he hadn't fired a gun since the age of twelve, and that he doesn't have guns, and isn't a gun guy. The problem was the spent .45 caliber ammo casings found in his car.
Yeah, our criminal justice system has a lot of problems; but, we've gotta fix the fucking media.
This is far from an isolated incident.
How many of you still believe, "Hands up, don't shoot"? False.
How many of you still believe that Jacob Blake was unarmed, was just trying to break up an altercation, and was simply trying to get away with his kids? Absolutely fucking false.
How many of you still believe that Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines with an illegal gun and shot black people?
Absolutely fucking false.
Yeesh, God knows how long I could go on with this. Do I need to bring up the Bike Karen story, and the bullshit like that that the media feeds on despite being absolutely fucking wrong?
Mr. Bukosky's case happened ten years ago. Ten years after he was completely exonerated, if you Google him, all you get is the impression that he's a loose cannon with road rage who pulled a gun on an innocent victim. No retractions -- much less apologies. These are the media lies that haunt innocent people, possibly for life, even after they were proven to be in the right.
