RX-78-2 "Gundam" Revive
So, you’ve gained an interest in making Gundam Plastic Models, or Gunpla, but you don’t know where to start. This post will help you decide what Gunpla would be best for you to start with, based on how challenging you want your first one to be. We will also go in-depth on each kit.
First we have to explain the difference between all the different grades of Gunpla. In order of difficulty, there a First Grades, which are very simple with low articulation. First Grades usually have a lower number of pieces and are very simple to snap build, and are also the cheapest on average, at around $12. Super Deformed are similar to First Grades in almost every way but design. Super Deformed Gunpla have more disproportional bodies, similar to bobbleheads. High Grade Gunplas are more complicated but still offer simple kits at around $20. High Grades are the most common Gunplas to see. Master Grade Gunplas are much harder, more expensive, and should not be attempted for beginners. Perfect grades are the hardest and most expensive, averaging at around $150.
- Any First Grade Gunpla.
First Grade Gunplas are very simple and offer a good price for you to gain a taste of building Gunpla. Do realize though that FGs are meant for a younger audience but are still a good place to spot.
-Any SD(Super Deformed Gunpla) Gunpla.
These are more childishly styled but offer more challenging experience then the some FGs.
-High Grade RX-78-2 “Gundam” Revive
Where better to start with the High Grade Gunplas then the first gundam. The High Grade “Gundam” Revive is an extremely cheap Gunpla at around $11. It is a very good place to start with a relatively simple build. Having personally started with this one, I can say it is a good place to start.
-Any HG you want and think you can do
In the end, HG are never extremely complicated, so do some research, figure out how far you want to challenge yourself, and pick the model you want.
