Devil Gundam: Scratch Building Piston [Leg Modification - Part 38]

in gunpla •  7 years ago
Hi guys!

Today I detail the piston a little bit. Probably I'm gonna finalised the piston in a few days since it's going to be permanent attach to the thigh. So here are updates on Project Devil Gundam!

Detailing the piston

I start off with a horizontal pla strip on the top.

The size is a bit small but I'm getting use to making this sort of details now.

I guess all those scratch building really pay off really well.

How to detail the piston

And here is how I make the pla strip. I start with scraping the pla plates as wide as the piston using hobby knife.

This will be act a guide later. Notice how the scraping is at an angle?

I thought I would do a practice on making a chamfer while doing this.
Then slowly scrap off the excess to correct the angle using hobby knife.

Also, adjusting the width of the trim off and the piston.

To clean it easier I use file but remember to do it slowly since it is very easy to over do it.

Final details

The final details are just a couple of pla strips that will be cemented perpendicular to the main pla strip.

So it will make a plus sign later when I cement them together.

As for the height of these small pla strips, I have to sort of adjust it to make sure it will not hinder the articulation of the piston later.

It will be easier to understand later once the whole articulation is done. I think in the next 2 or 3 days I can show you just that.

And so this is my updates for today on this Devil Gundam x Neue Ziel Project.

Keep on building! Keep on steeming! Have a nice day!
