Something that I've observed in almost every gun control debate is that, when the prompt is about prevention of gun violence, the gun control advocate reliably switches the language to *gun deaths*.

In a very particular way, this is a tactic of cooking the books on the issue. About two thirds of gun deaths in these united States are suicides.

Now, that said, one thing that I can't punch a hole in is the reality that suicide attempts with guns are generally more likely to result in death than any other method. The pro-2A side shouldn't ignore the importance of that reality. That said, it makes no sense to use suicides as an argument for abridging basic human rights.

There's a reason why we choose certain words. When I engage with people on the gun issue, I think that all of our primary concerns are murders. The problem for the gun control advocates is that, when you look at murderers, their talking points fall apart.

The United States has more guns than people; but, we're about tenth in the world in regard to mass shootings.

You're statistically more likely to be beaten to death with a hammer than shot to death with an "assault weapon."

You're more likely to be kicked to death than killed with an "assault weapon."

Victims of stabbings are less likely to survive than people who have been shot.

I could go on; but, the point seems to be clear that my opponents are regularly playing with language in order to make their arguments more plausible.

Yeah, the next time a dissenter comes at me, and I see the words, "Gun deaths", I'm gonna call that person out. I know what that person is trying to do; and, I won't have it.
