The vz58 is an excellent rifle straight out of the box, but for not too much extra, you can add some simple upgrades that greatly enhance the usability of this fine firearm.
Brake Czech.
This is the knurled compensator or Slovak style brake from CNC Warrior.
This muzzle device is M14x1RH thread. This thing is awesome and I had no problem threading it onto my Century VZ. It is better in every way than the stupid slant brake that they shipped those rifles with.
I had to file a little bit off the back end to get a snug fit but it was easy to do and the result was worth the effort. Recoil reduction is quite good. I shot this all day at a class and was able to perform at speed thanks to the performance of this brake.
Get a grip.
The stock pistol grip is too small for my hands. This Mako grip allows for a much better hold on the gun and thus gives you better control of the rifle as well as reduces fatigue in your hand when using for extended periods.
This grip features a storage compartment that is very secure in case you want to put anything in there. I don’t like to store stuff on my rifles. It just adds weight that you have to hold up and that gets old fast.
Taking stock.
The folding stock on the vz58 is great for storage and transport but leaves a lot to be desired in comfort when shooting the rifle. I added a cheek piece from AMD65 Tech. This simple device securely attaches to the existing folding stock and provides a rubber piece to rest your cheek against.
It does not interfere with folding the stock against the rifle. It still locks in place.
You can also see the butt pad I added. I can’t remember where I purchased it from but it slips on and provides a larger surface area to place against your shoulder for greater comfort and stability while firing.
Hot hands!
I made my own heat shield for the lower handguard. I got some thin gauge metal from the hardware store and cut a piece to fit inside. I secured it with double sided automotive tape. Works well. I put this into the plastic handguard set I got from Czechpoint
I hope you find this useful. If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comment section and I’ll try to help.
