Focusing On Targets [IPSC Shooting]

in guns •  7 years ago

I have written an article previously about gun control and touched on a few things however I want to elaborate today on “focusing” when aiming and what your targets should look like.

I started shooting IPSC a few years ago however I don’t claim to be an expert, but it is sad to say that I have had to learn on my own through research, watching YouTube and others IPSC shooters. The reason I am passionate about writing these articles is because I know first hand how difficult it was to find my feet and I know exactly where my flaws are.

I have worked on many techniques that I write about and saw a difference therefore I want to make these techniques or tactics available to anyone that is keen to improve their game. Also note that I am constantly learning so I often am open to take advice to improve my game.

Some people think that you just point and shoot at your target however there is a lot that goes on in taking an accurate shot however today we only going to emphasise on focusing. When focusing on your target make sure that you are focusing the front sight against a target that should become hazy like the below:

Some people feel that they are making a mistake because the target becomes hazy when focusing on the front sight and feel they aren’t getting a good look at the target however that is wrong. We should always be looking through our sights and the above is actually what you want to see from your sights.

If you are seeing the following sight picture, then it is incorrect.

We can only get better with practice so make your way down to the range and keep practicing. Hope this was informative and stay focused for more articles 😉
