Menstrual Periods

in hadiths •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have decided to study the Hadiths as compiled by Imām al-Bukhārī. This is for #discussion open to all regardless of religious views if you can contribute respectively to the dialogue. I am not here to interpret the hadiths because I do not have the knowledge to do so. I would like to hear anyone's interpretation and analogy of these discussion if it remains respectful towards the religion. I will not use any repetition of any hadith; one will be used for each post. However, I will mention how many is in total of repetition

Volume 1, Book 6, Number 293 : Narrated by Al-Qasim 'Aisha said, "We set out with the sole intention of performing Hajj and when we reached Sarif, (a place six miles from Mecca) I got my menses. Allah's Apostle came to me while I was weeping. He said 'What is the matter with you? Have you got your menses?' I replied, 'Yes.' He said, 'This is a thing which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do with the exception of the Taw-af (Circumambulation) round the Ka'ba." 'Aisha added, "Allah's Apostle sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives."

Please correct me if I am wrong. I believe what this hadith is saying is that if you are on the hajj and you are a female who is on your cycle you can participate in hajj except any form of prayer or worshipping of Allah? I have heard that in some previous hadiths and I believe it was cited else where.

Volume 1, Book 6, Number 299 :Narrated by 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Aswad  (on the authority of his father) 'Aisha said: "Whenever Allah's Apostle wanted to fondle anyone of us during her periods (menses), he used to order her to put on an Izar and start fondling her." 'Aisha added, "None of you could control his sexual desires as the Prophet could."

While I am not concerned with the age of Aisha I believe she is the one that people say was 14 when she was with the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) while this is not the custom and culture where such thing is generally exceptable I do not think a crime was committed. There are states in America, that sets that as the legal age of conscent. Also, the Prophet Muhammad himself was under the jurisdiction that is higher than law and an example of perfection to mankind. I thought I would mention something that was always of controversity.

In this hadith it also shows what a person could do with their wife while they are on their cycle. You are not suppose to have sex with them when they are on their period but you can spend time with them and allow them to care for you.

Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301 :Narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri
Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

This hadith confirms some of the things a woman cannot do while on their menses. They cannot pray or fast among other things that were not mention in this hadith.

Volume 1, Book 6, Number 315 :Narrated by Anas bin Malik  The Prophet said, "At every womb Allah appoints an angel who says, 'O Lord! A drop of semen, O Lord! A clot. O Lord! A little lump of flesh." Then if Allah wishes (to complete) its creation, the angel asks, (O Lord!) Will it be a male or female, a wretched or a blessed, and how much will his provision be? And what will his age be?' So all that is written while the child is still in the mother's womb."

This is one of the proofs of God's existence. Some may wonder how but when you are given life not all of us are blessed to come out the womb with all of our senses and functioning body parts. We can thank Allah when he decides wretched or blessed because if you are reading this post. You are nonetheless, blessed.
