Model for Ambercrombie

This is the problem with our culture right now, summarized in one photo: we all agree that unrealistically skinny, anorexic-looking models are not an ideal standard to set for young girls. Cool. I’m on board with that (as are most people). Honestly, most guys aren’t attracted to that anyways. But it’s equally stupid and harmful to our health to promote morbid obesity as some sort of ideal.

Why not, you know, show an athletic looking young woman somewhere in between? Our standard of feminine beauty should be a lady who lifts, has some muscle tone, and isn’t suffering from an eating disorder on either end of the spectrum. Neither extreme is healthy, either physically or spiritually.

This is just another prime example of the pendulum swinging way too far the other direction in an effort to correct past mistakes. A&F ads were giving people eating disorders when they promoted 100lb women, now they’re giving people eating disorders by promoting a weight that, on average, will shorten a person’s lifespan by 10 years.
Neither is good, and both are dangerous. I also don’t understand how this is controversial.
