NodeJS for HaikuOS

in haikuos •  5 years ago

Fresh news from HaikuOS devs, NodeJS now runs on Haiku.
For those not in the know, Haiku is a reCreation of BeOS after it was abandoned. BeOS was a real time Operating System with multimedia as it's main focus. Video & Audio was front and center in BeOS from my recollection, but I wasn't a huge fan of video editing back in the days of my youth. In any event, I've always followed haiku, along with a few other hobby operating systems like reactos and qnx among many others. Anyways, back on track. What this release means? Well not much right now, but for those that love experimentation and development... Running Haiku and developing some JavaScript is now easier.

Who does love(read: hate) Javascript?

Me ^>^ it's a beautiful and simple language. Bwahahaha

Beautiful doesn’t describe JavaScript. At least not my JavaScript. For calling JavaScript beautiful, your punishment is to learn Java.

But I took 2 semesters of java... Ugly language!!! I'd rather code C++ or even C. Shit, even C# is sexier then java, and they look the damn same!!

Java is semi pretty to me. Swift is a real pretty language though. I’ve made one thing with C# and that was a mess. I wanna learn C or C++ but they seem so hard. Java is nice though. Kotlin is coming in for android development so it’s usage probably has dropped.

Honestly C++ is easy. Especially coming from having exposure to multiple other languages. You are on osx or windows?

OSX primarily, but have windows devices that I can use if needed.
