haiti, a world history book in itself and by itself.

not too many people know about the role of haiti and helping and freeing other countries from the colonial power of the 18th and 19th centuries. we helped cuba; he helped countries in south america like venezuela and colombia. after haiti helped venezuela to get its independence, simon bolivar offered the region of maracaibo to the haitians, but alexandre petion the haitian leader told simon bolivar "we come to fight for freedom and not for land. haiti helped america fight the british in the savannah war, but it is not in the history book. it was just a few years ago that haiitians' contributions were acknowledged in savannah, and they erected some statues of the fighters. did you know that alexandre dumas the great poet who could not have his book printed here, but had to travel to england to have it printed, is not american but haitian? did you know that the city of chicago was founded by jean baptiste point du sabre, a haitian from st marc, haiti? the list could go on and on. but i stop here. for those american who are not ignorant about history, shouldn't the honor haiti (haitians, ano treating them like trash) and be greatful? ungreatfulness is a sin with a capital letter.
