For a long time, I struggled with becoming more happy. Here are some strategies for becoming more happy instantly.
- Happiness comes from action
I always thought that happiness comes from rest, relaxing on the couch, sleeping or watching TV without having to think about work. But is this actually true? No, at least not for me.
I am the most happy when I get things done because if I get things done, I
a) am proud that I got them done
b) took the next little step in my career
c) decreased my worries
If I sit on the couch and just do nothing, I worry about things I shouldn’t worry about. When I get up an do things, I feel more alive and happy.
- Work out in the evening
At lot of people say, work out in the morning. I disagree. I say — workout in the evening!
“Why?”, you might ask…
I got a simple answer for you: Productivity.
As you already read in advice #1, my happiness comes from action. If I don’t take action, I am not happy. What holds me back from taking action? Being tired or feeling uneasy.
I feel really tired after I worked out, thus I only work out in the evening- problem solved!
- Get a light breakfast in and eat more at lunch
In order to not feel lethargic in the morning, I just get in a light meal, 2 toasts, orange juice, 2 eggs and coffee. I am a 320 pounds, 6'4 guy, so please don’t judge. For other people, this might be a big breakfast.
When I eat a lot of food in the morning, I feel tired and uneasy the rest of the day. That’s why, I only eat very little in the morning and eat more at lunch.
- Treat other people like you want to be treated
This turned out to be a real game changer for me. I always felt I was too tough on people. But as soon as I changed my thinking, I got more respect from others and improved my self-esteem.
If you want others to respect you, respect them first!
- Cut negativity out of your life
We often know what makes us unhappy but do not seem to ever make the conscious choice to cut the negativity out of our lives. But this is exactly what I did…and to be honest: Thank God, I did it.
If you feel for instance that there is too much negativity on Facebook just go offline. If there are people around you that you don’t like, stay away from them if you can.
Start making conscious decisions in favour of happiness!
Happiness is experienced emotionally, is stimulated by action, and is rooted deeply in eternal, fundamental, joy.
