How to create your own WhatToMine Spreadsheet

Do you use Automatic Algo Switching?

I did, and I do not use it anymore. I found out that as soon as my gear switch to the Algorithm that paid the most, most other were doing the same and as a result total nethash increase. This meant that difficulty increase, and I was switching again. Moreover, each profit switching meant lost productivity.

So, I started to use WhatToMine 24 hours to select a specific coin for the day based on the last 24 hours actuals. I fared better. However, WhatToMine cover only select algorithm and few coins. So, I was on the lookout for a solution that would include new and improved algorithm like PHI1612, Keccack-C, etc…

Unfortunately, nothing provided me the information I needed to do my daily verification / switching. So, I build a Google Sheet that pulls information from various sources, including WhatToMine, to scan for the best coin to mine based on my Hash rate in each Algo.

Creating your own personalized What2Mine

and save it to your google drive using a new name.

There are three sheets. Let’s go over each of them Sheet #1 API-Algo

This is API-Algo. For this to work you must enter your Hash rate for all Algorithms you want to monitor.

IMPORTANT: Algo needs to stay in alphabetical order. This is a named range. If you want to insert one Algo, insert a line in the middle of the range and sort the Algo in alphabetical order after. To disable an algorithm, just put H/s = 0.

This was easy right?

Second sheet is Next API-What

Please pay attention. The only input you make is in column A. This id is a number that you must find by visiting the appropriate coin page of WhatToMine.

E.g. for Bulwark you must go to https://whattomine.com/coins/ first and then find the Bulwark coin. When you chose this coin from the list of available coin you will end up at the following .url: https://whattomine.com/coins/224-bwk-nist5

Pay attention to the following:

Status needs to be Active or Active(not listed) Active means it would appear in the WhatToMine calculator page. Active(not listed) would not appear on that page however all the data needed is there.

When you look at the coin page:

The id of bulwark on Nist5 Algorithm is 224. This is the first three digit following https://whattomine.com/coins/. So ID=224.

Replacing 219 on Line 6 by 224 will populate all the information about Bulwark instead of XVG. To add coin, you will need to insert a line in the middle of the sheet and then copy the values of one of the line to the newly created blank line. Then just input the ID you want by finding them at WhatToMine.

Pay Attention: The sheet will also extract the Bitcoin value in USD / CAD / Euros at the top of the sheet. This is updated when you open the sheet.

To get daily mining recommendation in your currency you will have to change the reference in cell N1 and put the appropriate formula. E.g. =H1 to have the whole sheet converted to USD.

The value you get are exactly the one you would get from WhatToMine based on your Hash rate performance. Best of all, you can now add the coin you want and include coin that are not populated on WhatToMine like the LUX coin that is based on the PHI algorithm.

Lastly, if this is of interest to you, you can use the sheet Monitoring to calculate your daily earning.

This sheet is self-explanatory. Input value only in the green areas. I found out that some coin efficiency is not that high when I am comparing real performance with forecasted performance.
