The patent application for an application based on block technology from Huawei, the telecommunications and network giant, was published by the State Intellectual Property Office in China.
The company, Huawei, based in Shenzhen, initially filed its patent application on August 15, 2016. The document describes a system for checking the protection of intellectual property rights for digital content in a P2P network. The block, as described by Huawei, will record all validation data, such as the copyright holder ID and the type of access to that network. When a user sends a P2P download request, the verification system will identify and compare the private key or license before giving access to the content. The app will only allow content to be downloaded when the validation data is fully matched.
Although the Chinese government banned the crypto trade in September last year, and in February this year banned foreign traders from trading in Chinese cryptо-exchanges, block technology is evolving in the country. On February 27, the largest Chinese retailer, JD.com, launched the Al Catapult project to fund innovative block-based technology projects. Al Catapult managed to attract four companies.
