The building on the right is Puka'ana Congregational Church or "keiki church" built in 1900 along Mamalahoa Highway. The "mother church" or the original Puka'ana Congregational Church was built in 1849 along the coastline of South Kona. The "mother church" was destroyed in 1950 after a large earthquake, but the "keiki church" is still going strong serving the Hawaiian community. It's a testament to the bond between the community and its church.
