When we arrived at Kona Airport last weekend it was a clear sunny morning. Took this looking straight into the sun so it was difficult to see what I was getting, but it shows the intensity of the sun. Some people don't realize how strong the sun is in Hawaii in terms of heat and UV rays. Even in cloudy weather you can feel the effects of the sun on your skin. In Hawaii, sunscreen is your friend and limit your sun exposure if you aren't used to it. It pains me to see tourists whose skin is red from sunburn. It's painful and uncomfortable and can ruin your vacation. Be cautious when it comes to the sun.
