Sensory Deprivation Tanks or float tanks

I struggle to quiet the constant chatter in my mind and cant really meditate unless it is guided so I was very delighted when I came across this wonderful way of entering a deep state of relaxation via being in a sensory deprivation tank; its called floating therapy.
So for those of you who dont know what a sensory deprivation tank is let me explain its basically an enclosed bath filled with half a ton of epsom salts the high levels of magnesium in the epsom salts are highly beneficial for joint, muscle and back pain its truly great especially if you suffer from chronic pain.
while in the tank as the name suggests youre deprived of your senses there is no light no sound and shortly after being in the tank one slowly looses all sensation of touch and of your body as the water temperature matches the body temperature and makes it difficult to tell if your eyes are open or shut! Its an amazing thing to be away from the countless distractions of modern day life you rarely realize how many things are going on at once and our minds are being flooded with a constant stream of information, led lights, advertisements, traffic our phones and computer screens we dont have a moment of silence a moment to ourselves. Even as we sleep we arent in complete darkness our eyes through our shut eyelids can see the small light of our tv and we can hear the slight buzzing the fridge makes. But through the tanks now we can take a break from all those distractions. Once youre in the tank for a while you loose sense of time.
Outside distractions such as sight, sound, tactile sensations, and gravity fade away, so you feel like you're floating in space, losing track of where your body ends and the water begins. Noise from the outside doesn’t get to you. This is achieved by water and air being heated to your body temperature so you cannot distinguish between the air and water thus giving you the floating feeling.
Not to mention being able to reach a monks state of meditation without having to spend years practicing! Some other benefits are :
shift brainwaves from beta to lower frequency levels, alpha, theta, and even delta waves
accelerate learning, increase creativity, improve problem solving abilities
heighten visualisation, deepens meditation and expands awareness

When I stepped out of the tank i felt amazing i felt like i was walking on clouds everything was beautiful every color was vibrant i felt like i had taken acid in a way because everything seemed to be so beautiful.
I encourage everyone to give it a try be it for pain management, meditation or spiritual development landscape-1451322196-hbz-sleep-deprivation-index.jpg
