☀️👶🏼 SUNCREAM UNCOVERED ☀️👶🏼☀️

Bonnie says “Listen up” as she tells you all about SUNCREAM and explains exactly what the wording means on the packaging ☀️

We also tell you why we only use maximum Factor 30, All Natural Non-Nano SUNCREAM 👌

So what is the difference between factor 30 and factor 50:
About 0.1% in as far as protection is concerned. But it literally means that with factor 50, you can stay in sun 50 times longer before applying more cream.

We rarely need to apply suncream, as we finding covering up much preferable and try to avoid direct midday sunshine if it’s very hot.

However should we use suncream on the exposed parts of skin, then we be only use up to Factor 30, as anything over usually means lots of nasty chemicals.

Using natural ingredient suncream such as Badger Balm UK (as pictured) https://amzn.to/3tmxqh5

There are lots of organic suncreams on the market, but having done ALOT of research we opted for Badger. It has been brilliant in keeping Bonnie safe in the sun (and doesn’t stain her clothes either!)

Why we only use organic natural ingredient suncream:

Toxic sunscreens increase the risk of cancer because they filter out the UVB, which our bodies convert to Vitamin D, which protects us from Cancer.

Commonly used in sunscreens is the chemical oxybenzone which penetrates the skin, gets into the bloodstream and acts like estrogen in the body. It can trigger allergic reactions!

I keep Bonnie in the shade as much as possible during the midday sun, and ensure she is wearing a UV hat. I only put suncream on Bonnie between mid morning and late afternoon, as it is important for children to be exposed to a little bit of sunlight to help produce more vitamin D (which helps grow strong bones and teeth, and generally keep healthy)

What does non-nano suncream mean:

Zinc oxide is a powdered mineral that sits on top of the skin, scattering, reflecting, and absorbing UVA & UVB rays (rather than entering the blood stream)

All Badger sunscreens are made with either Non-Nano Zinc Oxide or Clear Zinc Oxide as their only active ingredient.

A nano particle will enter the blood stream but a non-nano will not. For that reason, non-nano is safer. Chemical sunscreens will enter the bloodstream

The UVA star rating, what’s that all about?

The star rating system was created by Boots and is only licensed to brands that are stocked by Boots in exchange for a license fee and is therefore not something that the organic brands can take part in. That is why you don't see the stars on their packaging. There is a very telling article about this here.

Clearly, the best approach is to safely expose your baby to sunlight and avoid taking your baby out unprotected during the hottest part of the day. Instead, make sure baby gets a little sunshine before 10am or after 3pm.

I hope you have found this helpful, and please only use it as a guide and as it does not replace professional medical advice.

Ps. If your going on holiday and worried about mosquito bites, we also recommend the Badger bug balm and insect repellant too 👶🏼👍🏻 ☀️🐜
