Sunburn is unfortunately a very common thing in hot summer days. Not all people understand the importance of right protection, spend a lot of time under the sun rays, which are especially aggressive in southern regions and as a result suffer from their own carelessness. Some types of skin are less sensitive to the sun, some more, and the second group usually knows well from its own experience that going to the beach can bring not only pleasure. As a rule, white and pale skin is more like to have sun burns than more dark one, but it doesn’t matter that people with such skin can’t get the sunburns at all. Anyone can have it, and everyone must know what to do if it happens.

Sunburns differ according to the degree of damage. They can be slight and very serious that can even be dangerous for your life. But even the lightest damage can bring certain inconveniences and surely won’t be a pleasant part of summer vacation memories. What are their main symptoms that can tell you that you and the sun didn’t become friends this day?

  1. The burnt skin turns red and even the lightest touch really hurts.
  2. In some days after being on the aggressive sun skin turns swollen, gets covered by blebs or by crust. Some people can have something like allergic rash.
  3. Sometimes the temperature goes up. In such case there is a danger of dehydration and it’s important to drink a lot of water.

So, you came to a conclusion that you have sunburn. What are your next actions? Here are the rules of performing first aid measures not to make it a bigger problem and to reduce inconvenient or dangerous situations.

  1. Cooling. A compress made of towel soaked with cold water, will do. I will be even better if you alternate it with an antiseptic one.
  2. Moisture and cure. Dry skin will be more inflamed so try to moisturize your skin well.
  3. Analgesia. You can use medicine, but a cool bath can also help.

Of course, if you feel the heat or sickness, it’s better to turn to doctor immediately. Sun damage can be really dangerous and not only for your skin. But we can prevent it by considerable behavior – not being on the sun for a long time, drink enough water on hot days and using SPF protection measures.
