My little girl lost her first tooth.

“Daddy” Chloe shouted as she came running up to the school gates,

“look what happened today” as she pointed into her open mouth, there it was a gap, one of her teeth had fallen out while at school and she was so excited about it.

“have you been kissing boys?” I asked with a smile on my face, she shock her head and gave a great big toothless smile.

“Daddy” she said as we walked towards the car, I looked at her with listening eyes as she kept playing with the open gap with her tongue.

“My friends have told me that the tooth fairy comes at night to give you money for you teeth, is that right?”

I knew where this was going from the get go, and nodded my head, “yes, she comes while you are sleeping”

Chloe looked down at the ground, and looked quite upset, “what's wrong honey?” I asked thinking that she would cheer up a little bit, but tears started to run down her face.

“I don't want the tooth fairy to come while I am a sleep I am scared” she said with a little voice and I kept walking with her holding her hand until we got in the car.

I did something while driving home, how can I make her more comfortable with the tooth fairy, and I got an idea.

At bed time I always read her a story, some thing that she picks from the book corner, she like ones with really happy endings.

After the story had finished I decided to tell her about the tooth fairy, my way and not anyone else's was as I wanted her to feel happy when she went to sleep.

I explained to her, that I was waiting up for the tooth fairy as she has to be let into the house, I then put the tooth fairy on my shoulder and walk up stairs with her, when we get to your bed room the tooth fairy then asks me to lift your pillow so that she can get the tooth and slip some money under it, I then take her down stairs and then she goes on her way to the next little girls house to do the same.

She smiled at me and told me that she loved me.

Later that night I went into her bedroom to do the exchange, I got the tooth and slipped a pound under her pillow.

As I was walking to get out of her room I saw that she had sat up in bed to see what was going off, and with a little torch I placed in my hands to make them glow, she gave me a big smile and said to me “thank you for looking after the tooth fairy” she then laid her head back down.

In the morning she came through to our room really early, it was just turning light and showed us the pound that the tooth fairy had left for her, she told me that she wasn't scared any more and she saw the tooth fairy in my hands in the night.

She went to school to tell all her friends what had happened, I got asked by some of the mothers in the yard later about the glowing hands, and I told them the same, its all in the magic of the tooth fairy.
