An Advantage To Being Awake At Night - Taking Care of Sick Kids

While there are several advantages to being a night owl and having a nightly schedule, one of them has to be being available when one of the kids doesn't feel well. I admit that I'm a bit squirmish when it comes to sick people, given that I am a hypochondriac, but there are ailments that I am not afraid of, such as migraines.

Last night, the kids went to bed early, as now that school's on again, so are the activities. My step-son has choir and my step-daughter has hockey. Frank also went to bed earlier than usual, since he has to be up early to drive them to their activities.

My step-son was feeling a bit head-achy when he went to bed, but it hadn't fully manifested yet. I put some lavender essential oil on his temples and Frank put him to bed. However, later during the night, he woke up crying. I was sitting in the living room, actually not listening to a video, and heard the poor kid. Frank was fast asleep and needed all the sleep he could get.

So, I got up to check on the kid. Full on migraine! Gave him a tablet with water, did some breathing, did some tapping, but it wasn't going away. We sat down in the living room, asked him a few questions to see if was stress related. He described the migraine to me. He was feeling queasy, but not nauseous, so that was something.

I got an idea though. I had my singing bowl out, perchance I would feel inspired to record something with it, but instead I played a bit for my step-son. I played it softly, not to wake the others up, and he told me that it helped. So I got Frank's phone, since he didn't mind, and the kid and I searched for a singing bowl track he liked. Set with earphones and the healing 432hz music in his ears, he went back to bed, and fell fast asleep. Hopefully he'll feel better, but I'm assuming he's going to skip his choir, unless he feels up to it, but he might need more rest.

All this took a good while of time. I don't mind; I was up, was not really in the mood to work, wanting a day off, Frank got to sleep, and I'm glad to have found something that helped. Granted the tablet for the head ache probably started kicking in too, but we all know that singing bowls produce healing music and that it works. He had everything on his side to help feel better.

I'll be off to bed now, but I'm planning on getting up "early" this afternoon :D
