Unfortunately, I've seen what the devastating effects of stroke can bring to an individual, as well as their their family!
Though my dad survived his stroke, he still suffers many lasting effects that impact our family routinely. That is part of what has inspired me to not only change my health and eating habits, but to try to share what I know with others, too.

Knowledge is power but power means nothing if you don't use it. Sadly, this was the case with my dad. The warning signs were there, but as a very independent man, he ignored those signs and there was little the rest of us could do to prevent it, as a result. That's in the past now and I know that we have to look ahead.

But if possible, I would like to share with you some of the history on how I gained a great deal of my inspiration and understanding on healthy living.....So, allow me to give you a bit more background...

My mother was pioneer when it came to learning about healthy foods. She still studies and is learning new things all of the time.
Back 30 years ago, before there was an internet, you can just imagine how much more challenging it was for my mother to acquire knowledge on the subject of health and wellness. Today, information can be available to you within seconds, but before the internet era, it took a whole lot longer!

Amazingly, she learned so much through books and cassettes she would order and that wealth of knowledge spilled over and caused me to get an educational foundation without even realizing it. Though I am still on this learning journey, I can honestly say that the foundation I received from her played a big part in it.

I make daily efforts to go 100 percent with my health and organic lifestyle, but I often fall short of that goal. I don't think I'm the first one to use this phase but this #learningjourney is what we are all on and I hope and pray that we can achieve our health goals in the process.

Some of you might just want to take off 10 lbs, while others of you might have some serious health challenges that need to be addressed. We can all grow together and help each other through this platform known as Steemit, and I would like to take a moment to transition into a related point of our discussion...

THINK ABOUT YOUR GOALS AND WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU
Most of us have goals and if you are reading this blog post, then there's a good chance that one of your goals is to have a greater sense of health and vitality.

But whether your on a quest for more abundant health, sharpening your golfing skills or becoming a better parent..... The point is that we all have ambitions that are unique to us and these ambitions require a vehicle for ultimate success.

Of course, I believe that prayer plays a vital role in helping us become all that God has intended for us to be. I have found this Scripture to be quite inspiring and fitting when I consider my life's amibitions and here is what it says,

Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
King James Version (KJV)

After prayer, I believe that God expects us to use the gifts, talents and abilities that He has given us in order to see dreams come into fulfillment. In other words, He wants to see those "gifts stirred up" from within us, as it says in the Bible. We have to get moving and see what can happen and here's where it gets exciting, in my opinion....

LET STEEMIT BE AN AVENUE TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!
If I took time to share all of my goals and dreams then you would be reading for a very long time. But allow me to discuss a couple of points that stand out from among the rest at this moment in time. Like my grandmother always said, "health is wealth" and this is one of the reasons why I often post within this HEALTH category. Not only that, but the incredible foundation that my mother gave me has also placed within me, a strong desire to attain this in my own life.

I REALLY WANT TO GO 100 PERCENT ORGANIC, BE FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT & HELP GIVE GREATER EASE TO MY PARENTS!
Let's face it.... Eating for health doesn't have to be as expensive as some people make it out to be, but it still isn't cheap. But I know that even if I save money eating cheap junk food from the store, (interesting how big business makes the junk so affordable) I won't experience good health in the long run.

I still shop at the grocery store but I also order in bulk from a co-op called Azure Standard. They have remarkable food that is organic and I've mentioned them once before in a blog post. Their food is always fresh, comes in bulk and their delivery truck passes through my area for monthly pick ups.

As finances permit, I will order more often from Azure and at a greater quantity, too! I want to get to the point to where I never have to shop at a traditional grocery store if choose not to do so. Because, as I see it, you end up saving more money in the long run by purchasing in bulk through an organic food co-op!

My advise is to get active on steemit! Don't just post for the sake of posting, though! Think about what is important and meaningful to you and write about it in the most expressive way possible. Share your stories and experiences in a way that reaches the readers effectively... It's all about good and authentic content, as I see it.

You'll find as you interact with those who comment on your posts, that you will also gain a greater understanding of the topics you share. I have definitely found this to be true as I share content! It's so cool to then read what my friends share and the exchange then becomes an amazing and helpful knowledge source for everyone to glean from. It's a unique community and with some great folks, too!

Stay encouraged and don't give up and may we all rise together in greater prosperity, hope, vision and accomplished dreams within our lives!

I wish you nothing but the very best as you succeed on Steemit and in all facets of your life!
