A growing number of the population is becoming aware of the dangers of genetically modified organisms within our food supply and has therefore pushed for "non-gmo verified" labeling. Just so you know, I am in complete agreement with this and I do my best to find products that have the "non-gmo verified" label because I feel that this is an obviously good choice. I don't think any of us desire to consume our favorite fruits and vegetables if they have been genetically modified. Gmo's, in my opinion, are a major public health concern and I don't think it's fair how they have been pushed upon our society so swiftly and forcefully.

Having said that, I do feel that it is important to understand some of the differences between "non-gmo verified" and organic. The label is what it is....it's non-gmo'd. But that doesn't mean that it is free of harmful agents and you need to remember this the next time you go shopping for groceries. I guess you could say that I let my guard down and thought that I was home free as long as I was in the non-gmo club. But then I began to realize that the "non-gmo verfied" labeling doesn't mean that the food is organic and that is a BIG BIG deal!

You see, when your food isn't organic, it most likely has been grown and treated with harmful pesticides, herbicides, growth antibiotics, neuro-toxic agents like Hexane, just to name a few. These are serious and obviously worse on fruits and vegetables that don't have a thick-skinned exteriors. For example, I would rather eat a non-organic banana than a non-organic strawberry because of that very fact that I mentioned earlier.

I'm not here to say that you should stop shopping for non-gmo foods....On the contrary! Keep it up, by all means. But in the process, let's stay vigilant and look for organically grown, as well!

Clearly, these are potentially serious issues and it's so very easy to let our guards down if we're not careful. We must do all we can to maintain proper health and food safety because staying healthy has to be a priority for ourselves and our families!
So let's all strive to put the best foods we can into our bodies just like we would chose to put the very best fuel in our gas tanks. Let's live life to the fullest and be healthy as God intended for us to be!

Stay Healthy!

This is part of the ongoing process of learning how many ways we are being continually deceived.

Take sugar for example. Most sugar today is from GMO sugar beets, GMO high fructose corn syrup, or cane sugar. GMO beet sugar is GMO and sprayed with, at least glyphosate, because it is Round-up ready, glyphosate is the main ingredient in Round-up. High fructose corn syrup is mainly GMO, round up ready. Cane sugar seems better, because it is not GMO, but Round-up is used to 'burn the cane' before harvest. This is done to force the, now dying, cane to, in it's dying action, pour all of it's energy into making more sugar, while at the same time the Round-up is concentrated in the finished product. Cane sugar may not be GMO, but if it is not 'organic', it is not safe to eat. I have also found a bit of discussion about the rise in 'gluten sensitivity' being at least, in part, due to this same use of Round-up in 'burning the wheat'.

Thank you for your informative response! We definitely need to wake up and constantly be in a state of learning so we know what is going on.
