The very healthy Chaga mushroom! Full of antioxidants and immune system supporting nutrients! I use this medicinal fungi to make a really fine double tincture extract. You can make tea from the mushroom as well. The Mushroom Grows primarily on White birch Trees. you can Identify it by its outer burnt wood looking Sclerotium that protects the inner parts of the mushroom. Once you crack open the mushroom you will see its inner rusty orange color! Now you know you have chaga when you see that! To reap the full benefits of Chaga a tincture is the way to go. I add the tincture to my coffee in the morning. To make a Double tincture , Soak 8 ounces of finely ground chaga to one gallon of High proof grain alcohol. 100 proof or better! You can split the recipe to make smaller batches. Let the Chaga's alcohol soluble compounds extract into the The alcohol for about a month or more. After the extraction is complete, strain the alcohol and place in a sealed container. Now, take the Chaga material and add to a simmering pot of water. Use 2 times the amount of water to alcohol for your water extraction. let the water simmer down to equal the amount of alcohol you have. Repeat this water extraction 1-2 more times using the same water. Just replace what water simmered off and simmer down again. Once you have both extractions, mix them together to make a double tincture!
