Dear Diary: I Wanted To Be A Freegan

There are also some Freegans in my country and they are usually the ones that are in impoverished sector of society where they collect disposed half-eaten food from dumpsters which came from fast foods and then they actually wash pieces of fried chicken and burgers and then cook them again as a stew.

Sometimes the food is so much that it is sold to their village which I watched sometime when it was featured in our local television show. But in my country as long as the food (fresh and raw vegetables and fruits) is not completely spoiled and cannot be used anymore it will be disposed of.

But in other countries where the people doesn't care if they would dispose a perfectly fine food which are just not passing the regular standards. That is the perfect place to dumpster-dive because you are actually looking around rich people's (including businesses) trash bins.

But there is a better way to dumpster-dive without actually dumpster-diving and that is to politely and with courtesy asking vendors and businesses if they have some items that they would throw away and ask them to just give it to you as a donation for your purposes. They would gladly give as the video above shows.

Freeganism I think is a noble endeavor because you actually reduce waste and use resources which could just get wasted. It also bear fruits of noble deeds like feeding people who cannot afford food. So Freegans are one of the unsung heroes that we can appreciate because of their kind contribution to our society that promotes not to waste food and doing kindness to other people.

Pretty much illegal in much of the United States! But then what isn't?

I think i also saw a video of how a tiny restaurant operates by collecting left overs from dumpsters of fast food restaurants in Manila, wash and re cook it.
And for the way they operate, its surprising how full the restaurant was , one even said its the best chicken stew ever.
Wow.
