Aunt Dory A Day Before Surgery

My mother had returned a while a go from her visit to my Aunt who had been diagnosed with colon cancer. She has been complaining of tummy ache a few months before and then some constipation until they decided to seek some medical attention only to have found out that she has a colon cancer.

The diseased tissue was taken off but not all the cancer cells. The doctor advised her to undergo a chemotherapy which I am glad that she didn't took the option because it will definitely make her worse considering that it is already a stage-4 cancer and with pains involved.

If pains are already involved with your cancer then it is always worse but if you detect it early before any signs then treating it would be easier as I have learned. Now my mother had told us that my Aunt already had lost some weight and has fluid retention but she at least can eat and always hungry but can just barely talk and on diapers.

So it is certain that my Aunt will not make it or get a prolonged life, she now needs a miracle to survive her cancer and we have a great chance to lose her any moment. My mother is upset but at least she was able to visit my Aunt even for a short while.

I regret not being able to visit my Aunt because of my current physical impediments so it is just one of my frustrations among other frustrations in my life. I know that they understand but I don't think that they also would attend my funeral. Well that'll be no longer my concern anyway because I am dead already but personal dread aside I just am sad that I will going to lose another family member.

She made her choice. I respect that.

That's very sad news @cryptopie. It's so hard to lose family members and when you know they have Stage 4 and have decided not to fight it, you're only option is to wait it out with them and provide what comfort you can. I'm sorry that you're not able to visit her, as you said, another reminder of what you can't do. My son was recently in the hospital for 10 days and it's difficult to watch people you love suffer and not be able to do anything.

Losing a family member is never nice. In recent years I have lost a Grandad and uncles to Cancer it is horrible.

You clearly care about your Aunt very much and I am sure she knows it. ❤
