One of my favourite cafes I've been to recently offer ginger and turmeric latte on their menu. Apart from being super delicious, this drink have many health benefits as well.
Ginger is commonly used to treat various stomach problems, such as nausea, colic, gas, diarrhoea and other uses include pain relief.
Turmeric is also used for stomach problems, such as heartburn, bloating, loss of appetite. Research suggests that turmeric reduces total cholesterol, therefore helps to prevent heart disease. It also reduces pain associated with osteoarthritis.
Most of all, both have brilliant antioxidant properties.
To make a super quick latte at home, I warm a cup of ALMOND MILK in a pan (this can be replaced by any type of milk or milk alternatives) together with one teaspoon of
ground CINNAMON,
ground GINGER,
ground TURMERIC and
COCONUT OIL.
I take it off the hob just before it starts boiling. You can sweeten it with some honey, or coconut sugar if you wish.
To have a frothy result, blitz it in a blender for few seconds.
If you have access to fresh ginger and turmeric root, you can also use that, just make sure you blend a teaspoonful of each in a blender to have a smooth paste before mixing it in the milk.
Enjoy!
DON'T FORGET:
Both ginger and turmeric has the potential to interact with herbs, medical conditions and prescription medication.
Check with your pharmacist if you're on any medicines which thins the blood, lowers blood pressure or have diabetes.
