Neuro-1 Headaches and Migraine

in health •  7 years ago

Headaches are pretty much all and each pain in the head - which isn't very helpful but it's the definition. So even a tooth pain should be considered as "headache", but it's not that way neurologists see it. We use another way to divide the kinds of pain one can have. A much better classification is to consider headaches as "primary" and "secondary ". So, when you have a headache that is caused by a tooth problem, it is a secondary pain for it has a clear cause. Other examples are headaches caused by a cold, or airway infections. One more: a pain in the eye for any cause, like thrauma or conjunctivitis. All are secondary to something. Whereas Primary headaches are those with the status of being there selves the disease, not caused by another thing. We say the headache is the disease.

There are many different entities classified as Primary Headaches, and Migraine is the most famous among them. Others like Tensional Headache, Cluster Headache and others are less known by people.

Some of the Secondary Headaches are very, very important and are those the Neurologist do not want to loose out in a hospital shift. Meningitis is an inflammation of the Meninges, caused by bacteria, virus, fungus and other agents, often serious and life threatening. Blood loose inside the head is another cause of headache that can be hazardous and must be detected.
As you see, part of the job of a Neurologist consist in discovering what kind of headache one is experiencing, if Primary or secondary - because they shall have much different treatment - and it's cause.
I intent to present some information about Migrane and others Primary Headaches is this issues that are to come by. These are conditions that affect a great number of persons, worsening their lives, sometimes difficult to treat, and most of all a very useful way to contribute to my readers. Hope I can help in someway.
