3 out of 5 people are having a common complaint now a days and that is weight gain with an unknown cause.
There are so many causes but not all are applicable to everyone.
Everyone has their own body structure and according to that everyone may have a different reasons for weight gain.
Today we will see some common causes of weight gain
One should understand the cause his weight gain and treat it according to it.

  • Overeating

Overeating is very common cause of weight gain.
Not understanding the need of your body and eating unhealthy food causes craving for more as your body doesn't get enough nutrients from what you eat.this will ultimately lead to overeating and weight gain.
Eating at wrong time affects the body metabolism and leads to weight gain.
Eating while watching TV or working on a laptop makes you eat more.

  • Stress

Stress is the cause of so many problems like headache, anxiety, depression, frustration etc.
During stress, the level of stress hormone cortisol is increased which leads to drop in blood sugar level so you will crave for sugary and fatty food which will lead to weight gain.

  • Hypothyroidism

A person with hypothyroidism have slow metabolism
Which sticks the calories leading to weight gain.

  • Menopause

Hormonal changes during menopause leads to fat deposition around the abdomen.

When you are dehydrated, body preserves water for vital functions which can result in water retention which give increased weight.

Inaduquate sleep or disturbed sleep cycle leads to increase in hunger hormone level and decrease in satity hormone level which leads to craving for junk food leading to weight gain.

Sometimes if you workout regularly, you don't take that much care about your diet thinking that you are going to shed the extra calories during your routine workout. But keeping this thing in mind, you actually eat more unhealthy food leading to weight gain.

  • Sedentary lifestyle

With the technological development, all our works have been so easy that most of the time we don't have to go anywhere for our routine work which leads to less amount of physical work.
If you have a desk job, it is an added disadvantage.
This all causes less calories burn leading to weight gain.

  • Medicine

If you are taking any medicine for the diseases like depression, migraine, blood pressure, diabetes, birth control, steroids etc, causes weight gain as a side effect.

  • Pregnancy

During pregnancy, a woman undergoes many hormonal changes, changes in mental state as well as food habits leading to weight gain.

  • Genetic factor

Weight gain and obesity may be due to genetic factor also.

  • Aging

Women loss muscle mass after the age of 30 yrs. Due to reduced muscles which causes reduced metabolism, hormonal changes and fat distribution pattern, there is weight gain.

  • Excessive alcohol

Alcohol in our body, is broken down in sugar which if not used gets converted into fat cells.

  • Crash diet

Crash diet doesn't work for all as when you eat very low calorie food, your body starts preseving the consumed calories as fat which leads to weight gain rather than loss.

  • Using too much salt

If you have a habit of adding salt externally on everything, take care not to. As it may lead to water retention in your body and ultimately to weight gain.
