Stress eating is using food to make yourself feel better. It is the habit of eating to satisfy emotional needs, rather than to satisfy physical hunger. That is diverting our feelings- loneliness, anger, discouragement, tiresome, anxiousness and much more towards food. This is typically eating without being hungry.
Why do some people tend to divert their emotion in eating?
Because they are weak. Weak in the emotional aspect. They don't know how to handle stress. They don't directly face the problems. They get stuck with their fears of rejection, or maybe they don't accept the reality of losing. And we can't blame them because as a human being as we are, we have the varied capacity of handling stress. We cannot neglect the part that these people exist and the only way they can escape reality is through diverting it in another way.
When we talk about health, our perspective towards eating is positive but when we talk about stress and the divert action is eating then it is a questionable set-up. Although on another side of thinking stress-eating is good because there is a chance that we get relieved by the burdens we feel. But the means is just temporary after a certain time, we will be back to our normal consciousness. What do we get when we stressed-out and eat?
Is stress eating a disorder?
Coping up with emotional hunger can’t be filled with food alone. Eating may feel good in a moment, an instant remedy, but the feelings that cause the eating are still there. And the worse scenario is that you consume even more unnecessary calories than your usual one when you eat because it is a repeating action. This would eventually lead to an eating disorder like binge-eating disorder or night-eating syndrome.
I may not be good at giving advice but this one is a sincere advice from me " relax and eat NO to obsess and eat! "

i like the way you wrote it @karyah1001, however, i felt guilty about it because there are instances that i practiced stress eating to make my self feel better specially when i am battling with stress and tons of workloads.
This one is very helpful.
