Substantial effect of DHA
A study by the Cochrane Collaboration (a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that studies systematic medical information with more than 37,000 members in more than 130 countries) concludes that there is no evidence Clearly DHA supplementation, or docosahexaenoic acid, the main nutrient found in fish and fish oils, will improve brain development in newborns, but there is no risk of supplementation. That conclusion was confirmed in a recent randomized controlled trial published by JAMA Journal, which found no effects in prenatal DHA supplements on IQ of children at 7 years of age.
