The health advantages of black seed oil are numerous. Yet it is important to buy good quality nigella sativa oil. Nigella sativa is the scientific expression for the spice which has been used for centuries to flavour food and for medical purposes. Its common names are numerous, including black cumin seed, kalonji, kezah, chamushka, corek otu, seeds of blessing, fennel flower, black caraway, black onion seed and others, highlighting its widespread utilisation throughout Asia, Africa and Europe. In agreement with the book of Prophetic Medicine, we should hold onto the usage of these black seeds since they can heal all diseases except death.

Scientists have evaluated the benefits of black cumin oil in treating several medical ailments, including arthritis, cancer, diabetes mellitus, liver injury, parasitic infections, bacterial ailments and illnesses, asthma alongside other respiratory ailments. Genuine nigella sativa is cultivated in Turkey, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, northern Africa, India and other areas of Asia. It grows wild on the Mediterranean shore in Egypt and in Turkey and the Balkans. Mainly due to the many health advantages of black seed oil, it is an invaluable commodity which cannot be found in discount stores. Cheap Nigella sativa oil may also contain additives, including common vegetable or olive oils.

The other risk is that it may be made from other species of Nigella, a number of which are poisonous. The seeds are comparable looking to pumpkin seed and black sesame. Even black cumin seed, which is among the common nigella names, is, in fact, a different spice. Due to the many common names, some of which are shared by other spices, it is important to search for the botanical name, Nigella sativa and to purchase it from a reliable manufacturer that specialises in health supplements.
