Calorie restriction and intermittent fasting work wonders. But the most important thing is what you eat. If you consume fresh nutrient dense foods - you will hardly ever feel hunger. But if you eat crap, you will constantly look for something to snack. Hunger means that your body desperately crave something and often it is not another portion of carbohydrates and fat.
