VINE A CAMBIARTE LA VIDA

Being on the side of relatives who have a patient in ICU, is a totally different experience than you can have if you are a health professional who is providing a service in a hospital. While it is true that throughout my career I have had to live different emotions with cancer patients, this time those emotions were more intense, it was your beloved who was on the other side with mechanical ventilation. A normal day was a lot of anguish starting because the precarious health system that we have requires you to buy EVERYTHING that the patient needs or requires from medicines to supplies or medical supplies, you spend all day listening to the nurse or the doctor calling through a door, ¨family of the patient such ¨, and your heart is accelerating, you do not know until now if you are going to ask for medicines that are not obtained in the country or supplies, or the worst in a cold and insensitive, hard Sometimes, they tell you that your family member got worse, they use the word ¨critico¨ every time to warn you that at any moment you can die.

When I say insensitive, I want to make it clear that we family members do not want to be taken as victims, that they see us with pity, we just need and require that instead of increasing suffering they calm it down. Putting yourself in the shoes of those who suffer or suffer to see how your family member's life escapes is very difficult for some HEALTH PROFESSIONALS but we need to humanize more the area of INTENSIVE CARE, offer a more friendly communication, with a sense of humility, with a little more sensitivity.

On one occasion of those many days, a Licentiate in Nursing moved me, I think she was the only one with an angelic kindness, I let myself spend an afternoon with my love, taking her hands helping her to do exercises, my beloved comment that I wanted to listen to music and with her cell phone in her hand she asked him: who was your favorite singer?
and I put the songs of Javier Solís, it was amazing how he smiled all afternoon, I change his mood completely.

I think that the management of information in this area is of vital importance for family members, but with more effective communication. For example, one morning an intensivist doctor talked to my daughter who was a minor and told her that her father was going to be moved to the floor, but if she did not learn to perform certain techniques (which must be handled by Nursing Professionals), her Pope was dying. It is assumed that after the patient leaves the ICU the care they deserve should not be less in quality than the ones they had before, they should continue a series of therapies, however, my beloved was abandoned, for some it was a waste, that was with "Bad forecast" and it seems that this gave them the gift of Gods to decide what to do with the life of a human being.

To conclude, I related part of our experiences that were many, not as a way to denounce, but because I think that memory has the need to express itself, to feel freedom, and in this way your heart lowers the intensity of pain, impotence of seeing a loved one leave who was operated on by a brain tumor and in the end he left for other reasons, which as a starting point for me begins with lack of humanity in hospitals, due to the scarcity or lack of accessibility of medicines and supplies and ultimately because of the malfunctioning of health systems in my country.
