bye-bye summer (& sickness?)

so.
this summer was super rad in many many ways,
but on my body and my heart, it was a pretty tough one.
summer '18.
far from the sexy single summer, I longed for,
and also much farther from a summer of sadness and heartbreak
than I expected.
it went by in a flash of light.
I spent it avoiding sadness, instead of embracing happiness.
I didn't feel like myself.
and I spent far too much of it sick in bed.
I AM NOT A SICKLY PERSON.
my physical and emotional wellbeing are very high on my priorities
and they always have been.
but for some reason,
they pulled each other down this summer, and it is my job to remember who I am.

I am someone who loves the outdoors.
I am someone who feels confident in my skin.
I am a woman who cares about what foods I put into my ever changing body.
I am ACTIVE.
I read.
I write.
I'm always learning.
I am OPEN to love.
& I LOVE to dance.

today,
my doctor reminded me that I really need to take my health and well-being into my own hands,
because she has no idea how to help me feel better.
no idea.
so.
I have to do the handful of things that I KNOW make me feel good:

  • eating well.
  • sleeping well.
  • writing.
  • reading.
  • listening to good tunes//dancing
  • exercise.
  • positive affirmations.

and hope that through these practices, I will build my immune system up so that it can fight anything!!

xx monique

ps. this method is not necessarily fully backed by science, but honestly, neither was my doctor's visit today.. so it's fully worth a try.

Love the hat, it really suits you. And the list of things that make you happy and feel better sounds pretty good to me.

We are just heading into better weather here and I'm really excited for the summer weather to be here. I hope you have a good autumn with nice warm days.

Thank you so much. I really love it too, and love that I bought it to avoid sunburn one lovely day in the south of France. Articles of clothing from my travels always make me really happy to wear back home. It’s silly that material goods can hold memories like that but they really can for me ☺️

I’m jealous that you’re summer is just around the corner while mine ends!! I am not ready for the cold, quite yet. Hopefully fall is long !

It's nice having things from holidays/trips away because they can help keep the memories of the nice times alive, well I think so anyway. Definitely a great piece of clothing to keep!
