Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides energy and strength, improves children's long-term cognitive ability and performance. As the people say, they are the foundation of the foundation. What are the best breakfast dishes, says nutritional specialist Lizete Maldere.

What's good:

At breakfast, compound carbohydrates that last for a long time, such as whole wheat corn, musli, whole grain cereals, porridges, are very good. Also, protein rich produkts like - nuts, seeds, dairy products, some slice of meat and various omelettes.

What you should avoid:

High-sugar foods such as sweet and colored cereals, candy, and white flour products that will provide energy for a short time should be avoided. As the sugar level changes rapidly, the body will once again experience loss and fatigue quickly. For those who do not eat breakfast, we recommend that you try to reduce the amount of food you eat during the evening and then watch if there is still no appetite in the morning.

What do you think about fruit for breakfast? I love to make smoothies in the morning, more substantial food I find hard to eat in the morning. But I do always add some grains to the mix for more long-term energy.

Yeah, adding oat flakes (example) for smoothie helps with long term energy and sugar in fruits will help to get up more quickly. Great combo!
