Healthy Foods That Keep You Full

in health •  6 years ago

Hey everyone. Today's post will be a health post about certain foods you should eat in order to stay fuller for longer. This will help prevent over consumption and weight gain. Lets get to it...

The first food on the list is one of my personal favorites...avocados. Avocados are super satisfying and are loaded with excellent, healthy fats. In one study, it was found that women who eat half an avocado at lunch might experience reduced food cravings later in the day. You can eat them on their own, or add them to a salad, or even a smoothie.

The second food to help keep you full is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate contains monounsaturated fatty acids that could help speed up your metabolism. When it comes to choosing your chocolate, the darker the better. Try to grab at least 85% cacao. You also want to stay away from milk chocolate, which does not carry the same benefits as dark chocolate.

Third on the list we have broccoli. Broccoli is a mighty source of calcium and important cancer-fighting compounds. It also has tons of fiber that will fill you up and only set you back 30 calories per serving. You should steam your broccoli before eating to help with digestion.

Fourth on the list in eggs. Eggs are packed with protein, which helps curb your appetite. One study found that women who are overweight and ate eggs for breakfast lost twice as much weight as women who started their days with bagels.

Fifth on the list is Quinoa. Quinoa contains hearty doses of iron and magnesium, which help give your body energy. A one cup serving also boasts 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. Try adding it to your salad, burger patties, or even baked into your muffins.

Sixth on the list is almonds. Almonds are a great snack. They are loaded with healthy fats, protein, and fiber. People who snack on almonds tend to lose more weight than those who snack on crackers and other carb rich foods.

Seventh on the list is Greek Yogurt. Greek Yogurt has 17 grams of protein per serving. It is also loaded with probiotics that are great for digestion. People who eat Greek Yogurt tend to feel fuller for longer than people who snack on carb loaded foods.

Eight on the list is lentils. Lentils have 13 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber per serving. This is one of the reasons this legume keeps you fuller for longer. Lentils also boast twice as much iron as other legumes and are especially good sources of Vitamin B and folate.

Ninth on the list is Chia Seeds. These tiny seeds pack a punch. They contain 4 grams of fiber per tablespoon. This helps keep you full longer when you add them to your favorite dishes.

Tenth on the list is oatmeal. Oats are another great source of resistant starch. People who eat oats in the morning, tend to eat later in the day than those who eat cold cereal. Oatmeal is also great for slowly releasing energy throughout the day.

Bonus food for the list...apples. Apples have pectin which slow digestion and make you feel full longer. Research shows eating a whole apple with your meal vs drinking apple juice is a natural appetite suppressant.

Well there you have it. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any foods that would be great to add to the list. Thanks for reading and I will see you again soon.
